The Waikato Chamber of Commerce board has downsized, taking on one new director after nominations.
Andrew Buchanan-Smart, director of corporate and external relations at Waikato University's Management School, will join the board.
The board had eight directors last year. However, that number has dropped to six - the minimum required under the constitution.
Chief executive Sandra Perry said the board discussed whether numbers needed to be increased in case there was a skills gap but opted to forge ahead with six.
Annie Monk, an IT specialist with WebSpring, and Grant Robson, area manager at Westpac Trust, were re-elected.
Fulton Hogan divisional manager Les Rohleder, PricewaterhouseCoopers director Kelvin French and property investor Tony Begbie retain their positions as they are halfway through the two-year term. Chairman Mike Blake chose not to stand for re-election.
