Biggest townhouse development to begin
The first stage of the biggest townhouse development in Hamilton, a $20 million 59-townhouse project on the Cameron Road camping ground, is on the market.
Construction of the 21-townhouse first stage on the 1 hectare site will start when around six are sold off the plans, said Bayleys Waikato regional manager Stephen Shale.
The three-bedroom townhouses, which will come with one and two off-street parks or a garage, are on the market for between $295,000 and 345,000, with most for sale for $335,000.
The first stage will be fenced off from the camping ground, Shale says.
Management of the camping ground, which are tenants on the property, are looking for an alternative site, he says.
The development is by new company Cameron Park Limited, formed by four investors including Livingstone Builders. The company bought the site and development project from young Hamilton residential developer Andrew Yeoman.
Shale says the site of an uninhabitable house currently on the property will be the access for for the first stage.
He says construction will be of a high quality, and "you're not looking at a student village".
He anticipated residents would be a mix of tenants and owners.
Shale believes the project is the biggest of its kind ever in the city and reflects improving confidence in the economy.
