It was an emotional rollercoaster for Tina Fey fans yesterday, with rumours swirling that the comedy queen had been lined up for a sequel to 1993 witchcraft comedy Hocus Pocus.
The rumours turned out to be false, sadly. What is confirmed, however, is that the 30 Rock star is in talks with Disney over a supernatural feature, which Deadline has referred to as Untitled Witch Project and is in the mould of Ghostbusters.
Fey will team up with Cinderella producer Allison Shearmur, who is currently working on Kenneth Branagh's live action version of the fairytale heroine's story.
Kitsch witchcraft comedy Hocus Pocus starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as a bonkers trio of sisters from 17th century Salem who are resurrected in 1990s Los Angeles. Despite an average box office performance, it gained a huge cult following and still pulls in huge ratings on Halloween TV schedules.
Fey is at present working on The Nest with long-time collaborator Amy Poehler, about two sisters who throw a monster house party at the family home which is being sold.
