Jeff Bridges says shooting his role in Iron Man was "very frustrating".
The 60-year-old actor played villain Obadiah Stane in the superhero movie which starred Robert Downey Jr. He admits it took a while for him to settle into the movie because despite having a huge budget, a script hadn't been finalised for the project. Bridges often found himself spending time in his trailer while the scriptwriters penned a scene for him.
"The crew would be in the studio, tapping their feet for us to get out of the trailer. We were in there for two or three hours, writing the scene for the day, man. I mean, come on. You'd think for a US$200m movie, they'd have their s**t together," he said. "If I don't have any lines, then who am I? It was very, very frustrating."
The Oscar-nominated actor says the stress of the laidback attitude on the set proved too much and he was forced to reassess his approach to the movie. He learned to be more relaxed about the situation and eventually he began to enjoy himself.
"I made this little inner adjustment that said, 'Hey, man. You're making a US$200m student film. Just relax. We're fine. We're playing. We're messing around.' Nothing changed. But all of a sudden, I started laughing and going, 'OK, I play your part, you play my part.' The crew would knock on the door - 'Are you ready?' 'We'll be out in a little bit.'
"But it turned out so good. That's just it. You have to dance the dance that's in play," he explained in an interview with British newspaper The Sunday Times.
