First of the Summer Wine
Roy Clarke, the writer behind Last of the Summer Wine, delivers a more than watchable prequel set on the eve of World War II. Peter Sallis, who played Clegg in the original show, appears as his own father and David Fenwick plays a young Norman Clegg. All the favourites are there, and Clarke does an admirable job in sustaining their voices. You know who's who from the way they deliver dialogue. While the original show had more messing around, this one elicits more than a few laughs, particularly around the Cleggs' ever-changing gate.
