Top five things to do this weekend
Hallelujah, its a long weekend. I can't be the only person watching the clock today, counting down the hours until weekend freedom can commence. If you're sticking around this weekend here is what you can look forward to:
It's a big day in the world of racing this Saturday - Harness Jewels at Cambridge Raceway. The best age group pacers and trotters will compete in nine 1609-metre events for total stakes of $1.2 million. This year, 12 of the best horses in Australia were invited to battle it out against their New Zealand counterparts. General admission is a tenner and the gates open at 10am.
What better way to get the long weekend than with a bit of Blacklistt? The band, made up of four original Blindspott musos, is playing at Altitude Bar tonight. The gig starts at 8pm with performances from Black Rvier Drive, Silence the City and Setting Fire To Stacey.
ROMAN NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM
Take the littelies to the Waikato Museum this Saturday night, 5pm-8pm, to see Roman legionaries, Roman machines, a Roman market, and storyteller Marcus Penniless. Adults are $15, kids are $11 each, small family $29 and a large family $58.
FESTIVAL OF ARTS
Te Aroha's Festival of Arts is a four day extravaganza of music and workshops. There's a fair bit packed into the four days like Waiata Maori, music mix, folk under the mountain and many more. Click here to find out more.
KIA MAGIC VS. QLD FIREBIRDS
Magic will go up against the Queensland Firebirds at Claudelands Arena on Monday night. Its the final regular season game before the playoffs, and whoever wins will probably get a home advantage.
