There's been much angst out there over the traffic disruptions at Wairere Drive.
There've been massive queues and huge delays, with many people blaming poor planning.
Well this photo, from 1969, shows planning roads in that part of town is nothing new. Heck, it's been going on for more than 40 years.
To be fair, all the open space in this photo is now totally covered in houses.
The photo is looking west from somewhere around Puketaha Rd, with the planned Pukete Bridge, which only opened in 1996, shown crossing the river.
The best thing about this photo, though, is the jersey the guy in the middle is wearing. Roads may change, but style remains forever.
