1. Have you been to the Film Festival yet? No? Well you're in luck, because there are still ten days left to soak up some cinematic experiences at the Lido. Two Kiwi films you won't want to miss are The Dead Ponies Gang, screening tonight at 8.30pm and The Weight of Elephants, screening Sunday night at 7.45pm.
The highly anticipated J.D Salinger doco is premiering at the Lido tonight too - it's not part of the film festival but a colleague who happens to be a big fan informs me it's a must-see. And here's a schooling on the fundamental rules of cinema etiquette - food for thought for those new to the Lido scene.
2. Rugby. Love it, hate it, or simply don't care, it's happening this weekend at Waikato Stadium. The All Blacks have been in our fine city this week preparing for the match against Argentina. Have you stalked, I mean spotted, them around town? I certainly haven't...
Kick-off is at 7.30pm on Saturday and there's still some tickets to the greenzone left, if you think you can handle it. If not, never fear - you can watch the action live at the Hood St Fan Zone on the big screen, or book a table at one of the participating bars.
3. Free Sunday acitvity alert! Head along to watch the Great Race Regatta on Grantham St. Waikato, Cambridge and Sydney University rowing crews will battle it out in the final at 1.25pm. Sydney took the win last year, let's see if our boys can get it back.
4. If you love a good tea cosy, want to learn a new trick, or you're simply looking to stock up on supplies, the Hamilton Craft and Quilt Fair is calling your name.
Some of you may guffaw at this but why not take your mum along? When she makes you a quilting masterpiece, you'll be patting yourself on the back and be the envy of all your mates.
Haven't heard of them? Here's a wee look at one of their songs.
If you know of an event or gig happening in the Waikato, email email@example.com with the details.
