1. HAMILTON FRINGE FESTIVAL
It's back! Thursday marked the beginning of three glorious weeks of arts and entertainment. There's so much to choose from, like local comedians The Tron Trinity, Red Hot Rockabilly Burlesque Tease O'Rama, The Parnassian Lunchbox and Chalk Fest. If those don't tickle your fancy, here's a full list of what's on during the festival.
2. NIGHT CAFE AT THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY
Live music, good food and an open mic- what more could you ask for on a Friday night? Did I mention the view?
3. NEW SECTION OF HAURAKI RAIL TRAIL - GRAND OPENING
Hauraki Rail Trail is holding a grand opening for its brand-spanking new section this Saturday at Goldfields Railway, Waihi. The celebrations will begin with an 8km cycle ride along the newly completed track, be there by 10.30am to register. There will also be an opening day gala at the Victoria Battery site from noon onwards.
4. ITM CUP: WAIKATO V WELLINGTON
Rugby, rugby, rugby. Head along to Waikato Stadium to support the Mooloos in a clash against Wellington tonight. Kick-off is at 7.35pm.
5. HAMILTON ZOO FAMILY FUN DAY AND NIGHT TRAIN
Entertain the young ones for free on Saturday by taking them to Hamilton Zoo for face painting, ice blocks and an introduction to Undercover Cody, the mascot for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Cancer Society. If that hasn't tuckered the kiddies out, there's the annual night train ride at Minogue Park on Saturday night. This year the Night Run is supporting the Blind Foundation.
If you know of an event or gig happening in the Waikato, email firstname.lastname@example.org with the details.
