Beans: Altrua.

Cost: $3.80

This week I packed up my collection of antique cookbooks and 1960s Tupperware containers (thank you,Trade Me) and made the trip across the river to my new nest on the banks of the mighty Waikato.

I had to leave Glenview behind, but before I did, I commenced on a bit of an explore around the suburb that I believe to be one of the loveliest spots I have lived in for quite a while.

My day trip took me to the Glenview Shopping Centre and then the TasteBuds Coffee Shop.

It may not look much from the outside, and is next to the New World supermarket, but step inside and you will find a wonderful example of all that is good and great about living in a place such as Glenview.

No airs or pretensions, just a warm and welcoming spot for locals to sitdown, have a cuppa and catch up.

The furnishings may not be on a par with the recent achingly cool and retro inspired cafes I have visited of late, but the decor didn't have to be.

Its charm lies with how simple it is,and the loyal following it has clearly built up with the locals.

And the best thing aboutTasteBuds?

I ordered two pieces of toast with jam and it arrived complete with a special and sought-after individual portion of Marmite.

Just keep that one on the quiet.

Did you know: In Italy, espresso is considered so essential to daily life that the price is regulated by the government.
