Bans still apply
Rain falling in the Waikato early this week has done nothing to ease strict water restrictions.
A sprinkler ban remains in place across the Matamata Piako District, as water levels near critical.
Rain fall was welcomed by relieved farmers, with many getting more rain on Monday or Tuesday than they had seen in the whole of last month.
Federated Farmers president Bruce Wills said though the rainfall was a reprieve from the dry conditions, more was needed.
Total fire bans enforced by the Thames Valley Rural Fire District also remain in place.
