Kindergarten burns

Paeroa children are likely to have the day off on Monday following a fire at Paeroa Kindergarten this evening.

Senior Fire Communications advisor Michael Upton said four fire trucks and a water tanker were sent to put out the fire at the kindergarten on Arney St about 9.45pm.

The damage to the classroom was extensive and it was unlikely the kindergarten would be open on Monday, Upton said.

Fire crews were still at the scene and a fire investigator was trying to determine the cause, he said.

There were no reports of injuries.
