A drunken night out has ended in tragedy for a New Zealand teacher living in London after he was crushed in a rubbish truck.
Scott Williams, 35, died after falling asleep in a wheelie bin in Brighton, the British Times Online reported.
Mr Williams, who previously worked at Pakuranga College in Auckland as a rugby coach and PE teacher, is believed to have been out drinking with friends on Saturday night before falling asleep in the bin.
The bin was picked up by a rubbish truck and the contents compacted before being dumped in a skip bin at an East Sussex waste recycling site.
His body was found among rubbish by staff on Monday morning, an hour before friends reported him missing.
Staff were sent home for the day following the grisly discovery.
A Sussex police spokeswoman said they were treating the death as unexplained rather than suspicious.
Mr Williams, who was living in Wembley, northwest London, was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning with friends at various pubs.
He travelled to England in 2000 and had been teaching maths.
