BREAKING NEWS: A 14-year-old Hamilton boy suffered serious burns to his body after a shipping container he and his three teenage friends were in exploded.
The boy was pulled to safety by a neighbour after the container exploded at the Rimu St property just after 11am. The neighbour said he was alerted to danger by the boy's 11-year-old brother.
A fifth boy, who was asleep in the house, ran outside after hearing the younger boy's cries for help. Firefighters had since secured the scene. Fire safety and police were investigating. The remaining three boys escaped injury.
