A teenage driver died after crashing on a one-lane bridge near Otorohanga early yesterday morning.
The crash happened on Mangawhero Rd.
Christopher Jarrod Ralph, 18, was trapped in the car and died on the way to Waikato Hospital after being freed by emergency services.
Waikato road policing manager Inspector Leo Tooman said Mr Ralph's car crashed into the barrier of the bridge before rolling on to its roof.
"We're currently trying to determine how long he may have been there as the road is a quiet one," Mr Tooman said.
"He was last seen leaving a bar in Otorohanga about 12.30am and was found about 3am."
Police crash investigators are looking into the cause of the crash.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old Auckland man was flown to Waikato Hospital by the Westpac Waikato air ambulance after falling off a motorbike at Patetonga, near Morrinsville, yesterday afternoon.
He was seriously injured after his bike left a motocross track and crashed into trees.
