After 12 months of uncertainty Hamilton-based Alzheimer's Waikato is relaunching its service with a new office and renewed determination to help sufferers of the condition.
Alzheimer's Waikato manager and educator Jane Kay said she was determined to build local services "back to where they should be".
The move comes after the Waikato branch was forced to close its doors in July after the organisation was declared insolvent. While Ms Kay continued to offer a skeleton service she said she was delighted to be getting the branch back on track.
The non-profit organisation supports more than 500 people from Whitianga to Taumarunui where staff provide education and advice particularly for family and caregivers of Alzheimer's sufferers.
The new Waikato service will be officially launched tomorrow at Trust Waikato House.
The branch will operate from an office at St Stephen's Church on Ohaupo Rd.
The branch has a District Health Board service contract helping caregivers and family members to understand the illness and give them coping strategies.
