Cash aid kicks off for Autism Assistance dogs' costs

Donations have already begun rolling in for the three Waikato families left with a $33,000 bill after Qantas blocked their Autism Assistance dogs from being taken aboard a plane at Los Angeles Airport. But the airline itself has not fronted up.
In July their American handlers were turned away from the flight because Qantas said they were not certified even though they were. Sonya Ewens, whose son Sloan now has one of the dogs, said the first donation of $100 arrived on Saturday morning, the day their plight featured in the Waikato Times, followed by a pledge from Petworkz to also donate money.
To help the families, donate to 4 paws NZ, 02-0316-0188-337-66, at any BNZ branch. Natalie Akoorie
