A clandestine drug laboratory was found during an armed police raid at a west Huntly property this afternoon.
Waikato Police are now waiting for Auckland-based forensic teams to arrive at the scene to determine exactly what drugs were being made in the lab.
Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall said detectives, assisted by members of the Waikato Armed Offenders Squad, carried out a search warrant at the property and four people were found at the address along with what appears to be a clandestine laboratory that had been set up to manufacture Class B controlled drugs.
"Armed staff were used to support the search of the property to ensure the safety of not only our own investigators but members of the public as well given the frequency of which we are encountering firearms at locations where illicit drugs are being made or distributed,'' Mr Keall said.
The four are now being interviewed by police, he said.
