A Hamilton dairy owner is hoping the public can help him catch some thieves that stole over $10,000 worth of goods from his store early this morning.

Harry Singh's Te Rapa Mini Mart, on Te Rapa Rd, was broken in to about 4.50am.

While the alarm went off, no security company responded because Mr Singh had yet to get it monitored.

His shop was left a mess after the intruder jemmied open the front door and spent about 10 minutes taking about $8000 worth of cigarettes and other stock off shelves.

Dressed in a light coloured hoodie and light pants, he took everything from shampoo and women's socks  to chocolate bars.

The intruder came in and out of the shop a couple of times with new, empty black garbage bags  leading Mr Singh to believe there was someone waiting in a car outside.

It's not the first time the shop has been targeted  with three break-in attempts while the shop was empty early this year.

Anyone with information should call the Hamilton Police on 07  858 6200.
