Young runaway may be in Otorohanga
A teenage girl who disappeared from her Child, Youth and Family home in Napier nearly a month ago is believed to be in the Otorohanga area.
Samantha Scott ran away from her Taradale home on May 18 and hasn't been heard from since.
Police are trying to track her down and have made extensive inquiries with friends, family and her school, Taradale High, to no avail.
Police spokeswoman Kris McGehan said Samantha was originally from Otorohanga and her mother still lived in the area.
"She moved down to Napier to live with a relative and ended up in a CYF home," Ms McGehan said.
Police have no idea why she ran away but have no concerns for her safety at this point.
Ms McGehan said Samantha had been described as "a friendly, likeable young lady" who was "quite popular around school".
Samantha has been reported as a missing person nationally but police are following up reported sightings of her in Otorohanga this week.
Constable Raj Cotter said she would usually ring her mother or use Facebook to contact her father in Australia but "we haven't heard anything yet".
If you have seen Samantha or know where she is, contact Napier police on 068310700.
