The fate of Hamilton’s Stan Heather Park will be decided tonight at a Waikato Rugby Union board meeting.
The Melville Rugby Club is being forced to sell the seven hectare park due to rising costs.
The site is up for rezoning for residential use as part of the Hamilton City Council’s draft district plan.
Current owners, the Hamilton Rugby Union could not comment on the proceedings, but said they had gone through the tenders and would make a recommendation at tonights meeting.
The iconic park has hosted rugby has hosted rugby matches since 1959.
