Wanted Taupo man, Michael Hagger - infamous for his 'hoo rah' comment to police - has handed himself in.

Hagger, wanted on outstanding shoplifting charges, has been chased by police since last month.

The Tauhara Paetiki Neighbourhood Policing Team made a post on their Facebook page wanting information on Michael Hagger's whereabouts as he was wanted on three outstanding warrants.

A couple of hours later Hagger posted ''hoo rah''.

He was still being sought up until this morning, when police confirmed Hagger had voluntarily handed himself to the court.

The policing team, whose Facebook page likes tripled since the ''hoo rah'' coverage, thanked the public for their support.
