Motorcyclist dies in Waikato crash
A motorcyclist died after crashing into a car near Waihou last night.
Police northern communications shift inspector Danny Meade said it appeared the car had turned onto State Highway 26 from Campbell St, between Waitoa and Te Aroha, shortly before 6:45pm.
The motorcyclist, a 45-year-old Waihou man, is understood to have crashed into the car at speed.
He died at the scene.
"Who’s fault it was, we don’t know," Mr Meade said.
"I'm not in a position, and nor is anybody until we've done the full investigation, to attribute any fault."
The elderly couple in the car were not injured but were "really shaken up".
The family of the dead man was also at the scene and Victim Support was caring for both groups.
"Lots of people are victims in this particular incident," Mr Meade said.
Police Serious Crash unit are investigating the cause of the accident.
