Taupo police are continuing to investigate who is behind a fire bomb attack on a paedophile who recently moved to Turangi after being released from prison.

Darren Simon Kihi - who has committed crimes against as many as 28 victims - was released from prison to live in Turangi just over a week ago, after temporarily living in Taupo. He had served the entirety of his eight year sentenced for sexual crimes against young boys.

But on Friday someone threw a Molotov cocktail through a glass door of his house, forcing the Department of Corrections to temporarily move him to another location.

Kihi was not home at the time, having left for work early in the day. However, the house was badly damaged and is now uninhabitable.

No arrests have yet been made.
