OPINION: On Thursday the country's MPs will take part in a conscience vote on whether to change the alcohol purchase and drinking age.

They could either retain the status quo, raise the age for purchasing at off licences and drinking in bars to 20 or split the age so you can drink in bars at 18 but you need to be 20 to buy alcohol from off licences.
