A drunken "stupid" act left a Hamilton builder blushing in the dock after he admitted shoplifting two adult DVDs by shoving them down his trousers.

A red-faced Brodie Kelliher,18, pleaded guilty to one charge of shoplifting when he appeared in Hamilton District Court this morning.

An intoxicated Kelliher was at the United Video store on Hamilton's Seddon Rd on Saturday when he made a bee-line for the adults-only section.

Once there, Kelliher shoved two racey-flicks down his slacks and made for the door.

He was caught soon after with the two titles nearby.

Kelliher initially denied taking the DVDs.

Defence counsel Karen Quinn said Kelliher was drunk at the time and described his offending as a "stupid act".

Community Magistrate Ngaire Mascelle ordered Kelliher to pay $60 reparation as well as court costs.
