Two men remain in critical condition in Waikato Hospital’s intensive care unit today following separate farm accidents on Wednesday afternoon.

A 73- year-old Te Awamutu man suffered a ‘‘traumatic’’ facial injury on a Maihihi dairy farm, east of Otorohanga, when he fell and punctured his cheek on a tractor fork.

And in a separate incident a 63-year-old farmer suffered serious head injuries after he was struck on the head with a fence post rammer near Whakatane.

The man was flown by Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance and a specialist ICU retrieval team to Waikato Hospital.
