Fire safety investigators are investigating the suspicious fire of a Tokoroa house early yesterday.
Fire and police were called to the Clyde St property about 1am after the occupants alerted them that their front door was on fire.
A fire service spokesman said it appeared the fire had started after something was pushed through the cat flap.
The occupants had put the fire out by the time emergency services arrived.
