LATEST: A motorcyclist is dead after a crash involving a car west of Hamilton this afternoon.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson confirmed the motorcyclist had died at the scene.
The motorbike and car collided on a tight bend of State Highway 23, between Cemetery and Mason Rds, just east of Whatawhata about 3.30pm.
Police are at the scene and the road is cordoned off, with traffic being diverted down Cemetery Rd.
The driver of the car was badly shaken but uninjured.
