The SPCA has released photos of the clothing used to tie up and torture a cat which was found at Rototuna Countdown industrial bin on Monday.
The cat had been put down because of the extent of its injuries. It sustained major spinal cord and neurological damage with severe internal injuries and SPCA staff say it would have been suffering significant pain.
SPCA staff said they had released this one piece of evidence in the hope someone would be able to identify it.
Staff says the cat's friendliness indicated it was probably not a stray but someone's pet and they are still looking for the owner.
