Hamilton council corners Christmas
Move aside Bethlehem, stand down North Pole, city bosses have proclaimed that from now on Hamilton shall be the "Christmas City".
The merry men and women of the city council officially launched the brand yesterday, and have hit the ground running, forming a group that will co-ordinate Hamilton's Christmas events.
According to council, the city will come alive with markets, parades, carol singing, lights and splashes of colour on the main streets. The country's largest Christmas tree will be lit up on December 1, as will the trees in Garden Place and Civic Square.
A Christmas Bus will take tours to Harrowfield and Temple View Christmas Lights on December 7, 12 and 14, leaving at 9pm. One gold coin will be all it takes to secure a seat on the bus.
