Hamilton’s latest public artwork is set to be unveiled today. The gleaming stainless steel creation "Beat Connection" will be formally presented to the city at a function beginning at 5.40pm.
The sculpture, depicting a stylised heart rate is the first of many works to be gifted to the city at no cost to the ratepayer by Hamilton organisation mesh.
The group had previously tried to keep the work secret until inveiling day until the practicalities and cost of keeping the massive work screened from public gaze suggested otherwise.
Mesh chairwoman Nancy Caiger previously told the Waikato Times it was hard to tell how Hamilton residents would react.
"People always like to see the negative rather than the positive, " she said.
But the fact that it was privately funded should silence the pessimists, Ms Caiger said.
What do you think of the sculpture?
