Cambridge and Te Awamutu motorists are being warned against overstaying their welcome as Waipa District Council ramps up parking checks before Christmas.

Planning and regulatory manager Wayne Allan said it was important that retailers had every opportunity for their customers to find parking spaces in the time-restricted areas.

The council had historically received complaints about motorists parking outside businesses all day, which was unfair both on other shoppers and retailers, he said.
