Hamilton City councillors chipped a proposal from Hamilton Golf Club back into the club's hands yesterday.
The 110-year-old club wants to build a retirement village on its land in St Andrews and move displaced facilities on to publicly owned reserve land in a bid to remain financially viable in the long term.
The operations and activity performance committee carried a motion yesterday that the matter be withdrawn until the club has developed a full development plan and consulted with surrounding residents.
