Police release details of wanted man
Waikato Police have released details of a wanted man who has been on the run for more than a month after he fled a court imposed drug rehabilitation programme in Auckland.
Jessie Walker, 23, is described by police as violent and someone who has links to organised criminal groups.
Constable Joe Pratt of the Hamilton Law Enforcement Team says Walker has an extensive criminal history and had been attending a drug rehabilitation course in Auckland as part of his parole conditions when he absconded on 7 November.
"A warrant has subsequently been issued for his arrest and we wish to speak to him in relation to the theft of a car from Auckland and the subsequent burglary of a Rangiriri home in which a television and another vehicle was stolen,’’ Mr Pratt said.
"The owner disturbed Walker during the course of the burglary and had to take evasive action to avoid being hit by the stolen vehicle as it was driven away.’’
The stolen television was later recovered damaged in a park in Hamilton.
A male Maori, Walker is described as being of of medium build and about 174cm tall.
The public is warned not to approach Walker but to ring 111 immediately. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Mr Pratt at the Hamilton Law Enforcement Team's office on 8586200, alternatively information can be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
