Waihi Beach Volunteer Coastguard is counting down the days until their new rescue boat is launched to meet the busy summer season.
Fundraising for the 9.5-metre, $700,000 vessel has been under way for the past three years and, come January, it will be officially launched at the Bowentown Boating and Sport Fishing Club.
It will come fully equipped with state-of-the-art electronics, two 2013 Yamaha motors, stretchers and first-aid equipment, as well as a trailer and a new tractor.
