A medical condition may have been behind the death of a 40-year-old Putaruru farmer who was found lying under his motorcycle on Harris Rd, just metres from his home, at 5pm on Friday.
Craig Allan Paul was found by his wife, who called emergency services but Mr Paul could not be revived.
Senior Sergeant Fane Troy, of Taupo, thought a medical condition was the most likely cause of Mr Paul's death.
"There were some medical complaints that day and earlier the day before," he said.
But no one could be sure until the results of an autopsy were made available, most likely this afternoon.
The serious crash unit was investigating but no other vehicles were thought to be involved.
