A stolen vehicle stopped by Police near Mangatawhiri last night has led to the discovery of a man’s body, believed to be missing Hamilton man Paul Harrison.
Mr Harrison, 48, was reported missing by his family on Wednesday night after he failed to return from his last day of work with Hamilton engineering firm Tidd Ross Todd.
Counties Manukau Senior Sergeant Duncan Hall said a patrol car from Tuakau stopped a vehicle described as acting suspiciously near Mangatawhiri after 8.30pm last night.
“Police spoke to two men inside the vehicle who admitted stealing the white Mitsubishi utility vehicle and then assisted police by telling them where the vehicle was stolen from,” Mr Duncan said.
A subsequent search of the area at Mangatawhiri led to the discovery of a man’s body, understood to be Paul Harrison, about 11pm.
Mr Hall said the man’s death had been referred to the Coroner and that they were not looking for anyone else in relation to the find.
