Hamilton to stay on level 2 water restrictions
Hamilton's water restrictions will remain at Alert Level 2 after recent rain and cooler weather led to a reduction in water usage.
Council had considered raising the alert to Level 3 but a spokesperson said with water usage at 65 million litres yesterday and residents observing current restrictions the level will stay the same.
Council staff will monitor the situation daily.
Waikato District and the Hamilton City council areas are both on level 2 water restrictions, meaning sprinkler systems are permitted between 6-8am and 6-8pm on alternate days only and there is no restriction on commercial and non-residential properties
Waipa District is on a level 3 restriction, meaning a total ban on all domestic sprinkler use - only use of a hand held hose is permitted.
The 10-day Metservice forecast is for mostly hot, dry conditions with light winds and a few showers next week.
