Waikato Police are warning the public that a man on the run, wanted on drug manufacturing charges, may be armed and should not be approached.

Detective Chris Cummings of the Ngaruawahia CIB said Rodney George Martel, 35, was of no fixed abode and was known to move around the Waikato and Auckland areas.

"A warrant to arrest has been issued for Martel for the manufacture of methamphetamine in relation to the discovery of a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory at Waitetuna in July last year.

"Martel may have access to firearms and should not be approached. Any family members or associates assisting him need to be aware they are committing the offence of being an accessory after the fact and they could face prosecution for doing so."

Martel is described as a male caucasian of medium build and about 173cm tall.

Anyone with information on Martel's whereabouts is asked to contact Mr Cummings at the Ngaruawahia Police Station on 07 824 5474.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
