 Former Hamilton International Airport chief executive Chris Doak has been appointed the University of Waikato's first executive in residence.

Mr Doak, who spent seven years at the helm of the airport, will be lecturing stage-two students in supply-chain management and logistics, as well as assisting with the Institute of Business Research.

The role at the university's management school aims to facilitate greater engagement with the business community in areas of growing importance to the region, such as transportation and logistics.

Prior to his role at Hamilton international airport, Mr Doak spent nine years working at WEL Energy Group (now WEL Networks). The appointment is for six months.
