The parents of Waharoa shooting victim Jamie Ryan have thanked everyone involved in helping their son start the long process of recovery from his gunshot wounds.
Mr Ryan, 20, was shot twice - once in the abdomen and once in the jaw - last Thursday in his home.
He remains is in a serious but stable condition in Waikato Hospital's high dependency unit.
His parents today released the following statement: ''We would like to thank everyone involved in assisting our son at the scene including the Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance, police and St John.
''Our thanks also go to the staff at Waikato Hospital - from the emergency department through to the surgical team, intensive care and high dependency units and now the trauma team who have taken over his care.
''Finally thanks to our family and friends who have and will continue to provide love and support to our son."
