Woman named in fatal accident

The woman killed in a farm accident yesterday has been named.

Shirley Ann Soppet, 64, died on a private farm on Findlay Road in Maramarua after the John Deere all-terrain vehicle she was in toppled down a bank.

The Waikato Serious Crash Unit are investigating the cause of a fatal crash that occured about 12.40pm on behalf of the coroner.

The Labour Department is also investigating.

Police said in a statement that it is not known how many people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, however, ambulance staff treated a second person at the scene.
