Punters hoping for a quick life overhaul by scoring a cool $28 million will have to wait another week as last night's Powerball remains untouched.

Next week's draw will be the third largest Powerball prize ever won by an individual player.

In 2010, a pig hunter from Papakura won $28 million and in April last year, Trevor from Te Kauwhata became $26.5m richer overnight.

It is a "must be won draw", with the maximum threshold for the Powerball First Division jackpot at $30m.

But while no-one scored the big pot, eight players each walked away with $250,000 after winning Division 1 in Lotto.

Earlier, eager punters made out-of-town trips and even kissed tickets with dreams of wining big.

In Paraparaumu, Coastlands Lotto owner David Campbell said sales were almost double their usual.

Campbell said as one of the famed lucky Lotto stores people make special trips to visit the store in hope that it might up their chances.

"People are kissing their tickets, wishing and wishing and hoping - that's what they do."

The manager of Hawke's Bay's Radius Pharmacy Peter Dunkerley, Carole Ormerod, said customers had been making the most of the store's lucky status, and sales were estimated at triple the usual.

"People want all the luck they can get, they come in from out of town."

People had been saying they hoped multiple people could share the prize instead of just one person getting it, she said.
Auckland couple John and Donna also walked away winners tonight, scoring an instant $100,000 after spinning the winning wheel.

This week's winning wheel ticket was sold in Whitianga.
