A ''large truck'' veered off the road, rolled and spilt is load on State Highway 2 this afternoon, blocking the highway.
The crash happened just after 1pm at Mangatarata.
Sergeant Dan Weir said the truck left the road causing its trailer to roll and spill its load of plywood.
There were no other vehicles involved and nobody was injured.
It's unclear whether the wet and windy weather contributed to the incident.
State Highway 2 was currently closed in both directions between SH2 and Coxhead Rd and was expected to be closed for some time while a crane was brought in to remove the vehicle.
Traffic management have diversions in place.
Police, together with the Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit (CVIU) are investigating the cause of the crash
