Te Aroha's Maddieson White is using her good looks to lend a hand to Te Aroha Athletics Club, whose clubrooms were destroyed by fire last month.
The 17-year-old beauty will compete for the title of Miss World Waikato in Hamilton on October 27 and has chosen the club as her support charity.
She hopes her involvement in the pageant will raise the profile of the club.
Maddieson's no stranger to pageants. She was Miss Teen Whangamata in 2012 and second runner-up in Miss Morrinsville this year.
The winner of the latest pageant will be entered in Miss World New Zealand 2014, which could lead to the chance to represent New Zealand.
The year 12 Te Aroha College student admits she is not pursuing a career in modelling and plans to study forensic science when she finishes school.
"It's something a bit different and it's good for confidence and public speaking skills."
