Glue spill shuts Te Rapa Rd

Motorists were stuck in traffic after a glue spill closed part of Te Rapa Rd on Monday.

A truck carrying PVA glue lost part of its load on the corner of Te Rapa Rd and Machester Place, outside the New World supermarket about 11.30am.

Police and the fire service were called to the scene to deal with the mess. 

Several cars were damaged by the glue.

One northbound lane was been closed and traffic diverted into Pukete Rd. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

There are no reports of injuries.
