Taupiri community board to hold by-election in search of new member
A special by-election will be held for the Taupiri Community Board following a member's resignation.
Elected member Julie Ross resigned effective immediately due to work and family commitments, board chair Dorothy Lovell said.
Nominations opened on June 6 and close on July 4 for the position.
Lovell encouraged anyone who had an interest in the community to put their hand up.
"Anyone that wants to take part in the community grow can put their name forward."
The by-election will be held on August 30 with voting closing at 12pm and conducted by postal vote under the provisions of the Local Electoral Act 2001 and Local Electoral Regulations.
The process will cost an estimated $4000 plus GST, covering postage, mailers, labour, electoral roll, public notices, insurance and administration.
If no by-election is needed due to insufficient candidates, the cost would be about $1200 plus GST.
The cost will be allocated from the General Accounting Reserve Fund.
Nomination forms are available from the Waikato District Council office.
