One church has taken on a Halloween mission to scare the hell out of you.
With the ghoulish festival in full swing the non-denominational full gospel Pentecostal Victory Church has embraced the festival most churches shun to use it as a message to the faithful.
Rotorua Pastor David Abrahams said the idea behind their Welcome to Hell production was to scare the hell out of people using real life horror scenes.
"Not supernatural scary things but things in the real world and in real lives that are far more frightening, " he said.
"We want people to fear and avoid the eternal consequence of these bad things. Halloween is a pagan festival and in my opinion Christians should not be celebrating it. This production is not about Halloween, but the festival itself is an opportunity to present the gospel in a different kind of way."
Pastor Abrahams said the church's desire was that all people would make it to heaven and they wanted the production to be interesting and make people think.
"We are not just presenting the dark side. There is a way to Heaven and we want to share this with the audience at the end of the production, " he said.
"Sometimes the bad news needs to be presented before the good news is truly appreciated.
"There is hope in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ; he died on the cross and paid the price for all of our sins. We want the community to know that the gospel is good news."
