A Maungatawhiri house fire that killed a man is not considered suspicious, police say.
The body of a 29-year-old man was found in the remains of the Koheroa Rd house about midnight after eight fire engines were called to the blaze at 10.15pm on Tuesday.
Counties Manukau Police said the fire was not suspicious and have referred the death to the coroner.
However, the source of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
Police said the house did not appear to have any smoke alarms installed and the blaze was tragic reminder of their necessity.
The name of the dead man will not be released until a formal identification has taken place, police said.
